Beechdean backing Blues at Wembley

With over 14,000 tickets already bought by Blues fans for the Sky Bet League 2 Play-off final at Wembley on Saturday 23rd May, pupils at John Hampden Grammar School helped celebrate the town’s success on the football pitch by replacing their school flag with the Wycombe Wanderers club flag. The students were joined by WWFC squad members Sido Jombati and Nathan Evans, who took time out of their busy schedule to visit the school.

As goalkeeper Matt Ingram’s former school, the pupils and staff will be keeping a keen eye on the game, many attending in person to support their WWFC stars, all while the Wanderers flag proudly hangs over the school for the weekend, helping paint the town blue in support for the Chairboys.

Celebrations at the school kicked off with dairy ice cream treats from the club’s main sponsor, Beechdean Ice Cream, kindly donated by chairman of WWFC and owner of Beechdean Ice Cream Group, Andrew Howard

“The club are delighted to have been inundated with support from fans, businesses, sports clubs and schools across the local area and we’re thrilled to have the backing of John Hampden Grammar School, who are proudly flying the flag for us as we look ahead to the play-off final at Wembley.

“We’d love to be able to say thanks to every individual who has got behind the team for this special occasion and hope that the gesture of handing out free Beechdean ice cream goes some way to showing our appreciation to the pupils at the school.”

Wycombe Wanderers have also succeeded in extending ticket sales, which are now available to buy online until noon on Friday and on the day at Wembley Stadium. This followed high demand from WWFC supporters for tickets; following the closure of the box office on Wednesday 20th May at noon.
